Corrib Pub

Well hello there! Let me take a minute to introduce myself, I’m Senorita Cilantro! I’m so honored to be able to write this Nacho Talk guest review, I hope you all enjoy!

Let me start off by giving you a little background; it’s a beautiful spring night, you walk in to a local pub with some friends after a hard day’s work, you sit down and see nachos and plenty of beers on the menu… heaven right? That’s what I thought, until I took my first bite of the nachos at Corrib Pub in Brookline. Now, I don’t want this to sounds harsh, because I have a soft spot for local businesses, especially town-y pubs, but criticisms must be made.

Let’s start with bad: nothing was homemade, nothing. The nachos came with onions, tomatos, jalapenos, chili, cheese, salsa, and guac. The chili was canned (very obviously canned), the guac was most definitely from Trader Joes (I eat that guac all the time, I’m very well versed in how it tastes), and the salsa tasted and looked like it was canned as well. The chips were good and possibly re-fried, but were not homemade. It was a pretty big disappointment to realize nothing was homemade, especially for being a pub, I mean, pubs are known for their homemade chili, no? One other disappointment was that there didn’t seem to be enough chips for the amount of toppings, we ended up using our forks to eat the remaining toppings that were so sadly left behind by their chip friends.

Okie doke, now that we ripped that band-aid off, let’s move on to the good!! I don’t know about you, but nothing ruins my nacho experience like soggy chips, but Corrib Pub really delivered on NOT having soggy chips, kudos guys! Another huge positive is that the nachos had really good layering, including good distribution and melting of cheese, and although there weren’t enough chips, no chip was without toppings. The size of the nachos were good, enough to feed 2 people as a meal or 3 as a good size appetizer, and they are only $10!

I have to say that rating Corrib’s cho’s is a tough one because size, price, and overall distribution of toppings were stellar, while the taste especially and the presentation were not so much, however, the trigger must be pulled, so I would dub these nachos a 4/10 because no matter what, it really does come down to taste and authenticity.

Senorita Cilantro, out!
